Skiing Facilities »
The Rhodope mountain range offers the most southern skiing resorts in Europe. It is the sunniest Bulgarian mountain resort with wonderful snow throughout the whole winter season. Pamporovo and Chepelare are situated on 1600m above the sea level at the foot of peak Snejanka (1926m) and Mechi Chal (1873m).
The range has an exclusive climate featuring a soft winter with about 120 sunny days during the skiing period. The significant influence of The Aegean Sea appears here and the skiing season starts from mid - December to mid - April. Beginners are offered many runs and there is plenty of tuition available. Difficult ski runs, like The Wall in Pamporovo, are an excellent exercise for every skiing expert. The Mechi Chal run in Chepelare is the longest run in all of the Bulgarian ski resorts and is used for international competition.
All ski runs in Chepelare and Pamporovo are safe guarded and maintained in a very good condition. More than 100 highly qualified ski instructors fluent in different languages are here to teach both beginners and intermediate skiers and snowboarders. Ski rentals are available near the ski runs and the lift stations. We can help with the booking ski equipment rental, ski school and lift passes.
The main ski lifts in Pamporovo are as you enter the resort. Ample parking and ski/boot hire are found around the lifts.
On driving through Chepelare, a couple of ski lifts are located on the right. These are a real gem in that you can park, walk 10 metres one way to get your ski and boot hire, and then walk 10 metres the other way and you're on the ski lift. When we've been, there is no problem parking and the lifts are virtually empty. The ski/boot hire and lift pass are half the price of the more modern resort of Pamporovo and the skiing is excellent.
